Getting Around Corfu by Public TransportAnyone wishing to visit the north of the island by public transport should get the bus to Tzavros and then pick up the northward bound buses there. Wait at the stop beside the kiosk, across the road, if heading to Arillas, Roda or Sidari. If heading to Kassiopi, Nissaki or Ipsos, then wait at the stop round the corner, just before the post office, on the road to Ipsos. Anyone wanting to go only as far as Dassia can pick up a blue bus (usually blue and white) at the same stop on the road to Ipsos. Once at the bus station in Corfu Town it is possible to take a bus to other central and southern areas of Corfu, ask at the information kiosk for the latest timetable to allow you to plan your trip. Anyone wishing to travel in the Town and its main suburbs are best to use the blue bus service once in town. The main terminus can be found in Sarocco square where the information booth has timetables and sells tickets in advance for ease of travel. (If using the blue bus service it is best to buy your tickets in advance from local kiosks etc., the cost of the journey is more expensive if the ticket is purchased on board.) Green Buses to and from PaleokastritsaThe Green bus company (ΚΤΕL) provides the local service connecting Paleokastritsa with Corfu Town and for all rural journeys on the island. Despite its name not all their buses are green. The journey into the bus station in Corfu Town takes approx. 35mins, depending on traffic and the adult fare for a single journey is currently €2.10. The timetable changes depending on the time of the year. Off season there are four buses a day (Mon-Sat) leaving town at 8.30, 11.30, 14.15 and 16.00 (add 45 mins for departure time from Paleokastritsa). In the High Season there are 8 buses per day (Mon – Fri) from Corfu Town - 08.30, 09.00, 10.00, 11.00, 12.00, 14.00, 16.00, 17.00 and 18.00. On Sunday there are two buses 10.30 and 16.00. Current Timetable
There are 8 bus stops in the resort and they are found at the following locations – Agios Spiridon (Main Beach), Odysseus Hotel, Oceanis Hotel, Nausika Taverna, Akrotiri Hotel, Paleokastritsa Hotel, Camping Paleokastritsa and Lakones Junction. Tickets are purchased on board, unlike the town (blue) buses which are sold in shops and kiosks, and are for single journeys only - return tickets are not available. The latest bus timetables are displayed at each bus stop and showing the times leaving from Corfu and leaving from Aghios Spiridon beach. Free Local BusIn addition to these services, the local council provides a free bus service during the summer. This is an ideal way to visit the surrounding villages both to the north and east of Paleokastritsa. The buses are usually of the older type. The terminus in Paleokastritsa is at the marina and the buses can be picked up in the resort at the normal bus stops. On the front of the bus there is normally the following sign ΔΩΠΕΑΝ ΔΗΜΟΤΙΚΗ ΣΥΓΚΟΙΝΩΝΙΑ.
